Welcome to the Inner-healing Web Site hosted by F. Michael Montgomery, LCSW, MFT Therapy for the heart, mind, body and spirit in a safe and healing setting This Inner-healing web site is a resource center for the support and promotion of personal growth and healing. My desire is to support people in their own healing through the compassionate and courageous work of their hearts.
The Airline Passenger One of the apartment buildings near the Trade Center was off limits to everyone except the police and FBI. Residents allowed in the zone for limited time daily couldn't enter that building. I was near there constantly and wondered why it was any different than the others. They were all filthy with blown out windows and pieces of the facades hanging like draped blankets over rows of coffins occasionally dropping pieces of glass to the roped off areas in what once were gardens. A young couple who lived in that building sat on the other side of my card table crying in my filthy makeshift office. They looked so much older with that sixty yard stare everyone seemed to have, a glazed over frozen look. The woman kept saying they lost everything and she would never be able to live there again. Where would they go? What would they do? The FBI claimed everything in the apartment as evidence, which left them with nothing. I did all I could for them and as so many clients they poured out their story revealing why the building was different, why they couldn't ever return to their apartment. I listened intently to their story as it burned into my soul and my aching lungs. An airline seat with a mangled, burned passenger still strapped in by his or her seat belt catapulted through their front window into their living room making the entire building off limits. How much more horrible could this job get? My Clients never saw the passenger nor did I, but they saw it constantly in the eyes of their minds as did lover and over again, a monster from a horror move only it was somebody's family member. I still can smell that passenger because I can still smell the rotting bodies of Ground Zero. Drawings and text by Jude Patch Guglielmino judepatch@hotmail.com
