Social Security Numbers for Identification The buildings had blown out windows with pieces of the facades hanging off, as if groping for a hand to pull them back together. One of the buildings looked as if a giant can opener had attacked it. The glass at the Winter Garden precariously perched and occasionally dropped to the ground endangering the rescue and relief workers. In case of death or dismemberment several workers had drawn their social security numbers on their arms. It was a constant reminder of the danger of our job.
