Therapy for the heart, mind, body and spirit in a safe and healing setting

This Inner-healing web site is a resource center for the support and promotion of personal growth and healing.

My desire is to support people in their own healing through the compassionate and courageous work of their hearts.

Workshops

I have been a therapist for more than 30 years, worked for Home Hospice (now Sutter VNA Hospice) for 11 years and conducted two national workshops on the subject of healing and growth. For one and a half years I was president of the Redwood Empire Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. My workshops support and challenge us all to be alive and open to our healing and wholeness.

I provide workshops on a number of topics which include:

Working Through Grief: Healing Through Change and Loss
A deep sense of loss can be experienced in many situations, not only those times when a loved one has died. These losses touch us on many levels: emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. Often we do not recognize our need to grieve and instead dodge the feelings and experiences that come up. We may avoid being vulnerable and be critical of ourselves for being so human. Yet it is through our grieving that we connect with our healing. But in our pain, we often distance ourselves from our own hearts and deny ourselves the very healing we seek.
This workshop connects us with the natural healing of our grief process so that we can be fully open to living our lives.

"
Beyond comfort lie grace, mystery, and adventure. We may need to let go of our beliefs and ideas about life in order to have life."
Rachel Naomi Remen Kitchen Table Wisdom

Dancing With Dragons: Healing Through Our Dark Side

While growing up, there are so many parts of ourselves we come to dislike, judge, criticize, avoid and disown. Robert Bly describes this as if we were throwing these parts of ourselves away into a long bag that we then drag around behind us. Yet these are parts of who we are...
Come meet our own personal "dragons." In disowning them we cannot have our wholeness. In going to war with them, we are at war with our selves. The paradox of all of this is that it is only in re-owning these parts of ourselves that we can be fully alive and fully human!
This workshop is about reclaiming our wholeness and our peace of mind. The key to doing this is by actively healing through the compassionate working of our hearts. It’s about engaging and dancing with our dragons, these disowned parts of ourselves, and in so doing discovering how these dragons become our lifelong teachers! They are with us whether we like it or not. So let’s engage them in a way that once again puts us on our path of healing, wholeness and peace of mind.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that."
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Healing Through Our Shadows: Reclaiming Our Wholeness

It is meant for each and every one of us to live our lives fully. And that means being fully who we are. And yet how many times do we find ourselves holding back in life or acting in ways that surprise us or even undermine what we are trying to do. How often are we critical and unforgiving with ourselves. So often these are the places where we have experienced pain and wounding. These are our shadows that we understandably tend to avoid and judge. In fact we are often unaware of their existence. Yet as Rachel Naomi Remen reminds us, "Beyond comfort lie grace, mystery, and adventure. We may need to let go of our beliefs and ideas about life in order to have life."

An essential part of our healing and growth is creating a safe place for ourselves and then meeting these places with our deepest compassion and understanding. This interactive workshop will help guide us in doing just this. Join us in this journey of discovering and reclaiming our shadow as we nurture the Divine healer within us in our ongoing journey toward wholeness.

"And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
Anais Nin

Healing Through Our Relationships: Deepening Intimacy with Those You Love

If we love each other then why do we argue?
I understand my partner but don’t always feel understood!
I don’t understand what goes on with my partner!
Why do we sometimes just get stuck? And how do we get unstuck?
Is it natural to sometimes feel burned out or discouraged?
How do we deepen an already good relationship?

Relationships can be troublesome and confusing as well as immensely rewarding. In this workshop, we will be exploring many of the questions and concerns that are common to relationships. We will explore how through compassionately working with these concerns we can bring still greater depth and intimacy to our relationships.
This workshop helps us to understand how the struggles of our relationships can guide us into our own healing as well as the deepening of our relationships.

"The distance from your pain, your grief, your unattended wounds, is the distance from your partner. And the distance from your partner is your distance from the living truth, your own great nature. Whatever maintains that distance, that separation from ourselves and our beloveds, must be investigated with mercy and awareness. This distance is not overcome by one "giving up their space" to another, but by both partners entering together the unknown between them. The mind creates the abyss but the heart crosses it."

Stephen and Ondrea Levine
Embracing the Beloved

These workshops are interactive, inviting those who are attending to participate, as they are comfortable, so as to make the experience more meaningful. Each workshop has as its goal the healing of our lives through compassionate exploration and support for living our lives more fully.

If you would like to contact me about any of my workshops please E-mail me or contact me through my office.
